Anita Kaplan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from The University of Arizona in 2000 and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from The University of Southern California in 2002. She graduated with Honors and was a part of an Honors Psychology organization called Psi Chi.
After earning her Master’s degree, Anita was hired at a non-profit organization called the San Fernando Valley Community Mental Health Center. It is here that she spent the next eleven years of her career providing intensive mental health services to homeless, adults with a severe and chronic mental illness. She not only is passionate about serving the disenfranchised population, but also helping our Veterans.
Prior to working in community mental health, Anita completed her internship at the Veterans Administration in Los Angeles and was hired on to work in the mental health clinic working with Vets diagnosed with PTSD, depression, anxiety and psychosis.
After working at the non-profit, she spent the next four years marketing in the mental health and addiction industry. After four years marketing, Anita decided to follow her heart back to direct client care providing group and individual therapy.
At Iris Healing®, Anita facilitates fun, interactive, and educational DBT groups as well as working individually with clients, primarily utilizing EMDR therapy. Anita believes that through a collaborative, supportive therapeutic relationship, clients can create a sense of purpose, joy and healing in their lives.
When not at work, Anita is a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She has been married for 17 years and has two incredible kids and two amusing cats at home.
