Our Mental Health Retreats in California
The word “retreat” has multiple definitions. The one that most people are familiar with is:
Retreat: the act of withdrawing, as into safety or privacy; retirement; seclusion.

The one that we use the most at our Iris Healing® is “a place of refuse, seclusion or privacy.”
Our facility is meant to be a healing refuge. This is a safe place people can come to when they’re suffering from drug or alcohol addiction as well as mental health issues.
Here, you’ll find safety, security, and a way to overcome the underlying issues causing the symptoms of addiction. Below we discuss a little bit about what goes on here at our mental health retreats in California.
Breakfast at Iris Healing® Mental Health Retreats in California
Breakfast is essential to the start of a day. Indeed, we believe strongly that diet is a major part of living healthy. When you have the right vitamins, minerals, amino acids and more in your body, it can put you in a good mood that lasts.
From there, it’s easier to deal with the underlying traumas that cause drug and alcohol addiction. On any given day, we eat breakfast at 8:30 a.m.
Before that, we find that the best way to start the day is with something that sets a tone for the whole day:
- The Four Agreements
- Spiritual Reflections
- Gong Meditations
- and more…
It’s like a breakfast for your mind. By putting good things into your body, mentally and physically, it sets you up for a great day.
Late Morning and Afternoon
Recovery skills are important because they can help you to live your best life once you leave our facility. Typically, developing them will come right after breakfast.
During that time, many go through their process groups, which also help in developing certain skills that will prove beneficial in all walks of life.
Life here can be idyllic, but it involves work, too – that’s why we also make sure to carve out time to do daily chores, while also making sure there’s enough time to take a break, too.
Individual therapy is a major part of our patients’ days, and it often leaves them with much to ponder. That’s why we make sure lunch is right afterwards.
Life at Iris Healing®
After lunch, many of our patients go on different paths at our facility. Some go to somatic and experiential group, while others will go into art therapy, movement treatments, yoga therapy and more.
When you arrive here, our trained professionals will figure out the best treatments for your particular needs. That way, you’ll have a plan that’s completely individualized for you.
Instead of relying on stale treatments that were designed for people whose life experiences may not match your own, our experts devise a plan that’s perfectly tailored for your life.
We make sure that your days and nights are filled with enriching experiences, all with the expressed end goal of moving you towards a better life once you walk out of your facility.
