This past week, all of us at Iris Healing Retreat received some uplifting and important news. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (also known as the JCAHO) has now accredited our organization for all of our different levels of behavioral health care. This includes our Drug and Alcohol Detox Programs, our Residential Treatment Programs and our Addiction and Dual Diagnosis Treatment Programs (just to name a few). This is a tremendous accomplishment and certainly one that could not be possible with the hard work and dedication of our entire staff. As one of the premier Dual Diagnosis addiction treatment centers in Southern California, we are honored and humbled by this recognition.
Founded in 1951, the JCAHO is a nationally recognized organization and is extremely selective with who they choose to accredit. Of all of the healthcare organizations across the U.S., they only certify roughly 21,000; putting us in a very unique class. The Gold Symbol below (which we will proudly now display on our website and literature) is universally recognized as a standard of premium quality and reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting the absolute highest performance standards.
The way we were assessed (as with all organizations they recognize) was against a comprehensive range of strict standards; with an emphasis on client safety and well being. In our field of Behavioral Health, that included consultations with JCAHO reps, measurement analyses and surveys by licensed health care professionals, such as psychologists, nurses, social workers and more. To get a better understanding of the process a facility like ours needs to go through, we invite you to visit the official JCAHO website.
Perhaps the purpose is best summarized via JCAHO’s Mission and Vision Statements…
The Official JCAHO Mission: To continuously improve health care for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders, by evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value.
JCAHO’s Vision Statement: All people always experience the safest, highest quality, best-value health care across all settings.
As you can imagine, we at Iris Healing Retreat wholeheartedly agree with everything that the JCAHO stands for and we are truly honored to be included in their most recent accreditation class. From day one, we have held ourselves to the highest standard when it comes to addiction and behavioral health care. This hard work has helped us become one of the premier Dual Diagnosis addiction treatment centers in Southern California. Being recognized by JCAHO only solidifies that fact even more. We intend to always continue operating at the highest possible level and invite everyone to reach out to us and learn more about the great care we put into our programs.
